MORGAN FAMILY NOTES
NOTES ON RYAN MORGAN AND SON RYAN GILBERT MORGAN:

Ryan Morgan was born May 24th, 1836 in Springfield, Lee, Illinois and died
in Montezuma, Poweshiek, Iowa at age 77 years, 11 months and eight days on May 2nd, 1914. He was born to parents John (DOB October 22, 1805) and Nellie Eleanor “Nellie” Wilcockson Morgan (DOB April 26, 1813).

At age 23 Ryan was married to Amanda Malvira Robertson, Amanda was born on July 24th, 1839 in Oneida, Niagara County, New York and died on October 18th, 1891 in Kellogg, Jasper County, Iowa. Her parents were John Barker Robertson and Sarah Gilbert
Pinkerton Robertson.

Ryan and Amanda were married January 26th, 1860 in Jasper County, Iowa. Children: William Boone, Margery, Ida “Madge”, Ryan Gilbert born 1864, Edith, Arminta, Amanda Jane, Harriet Almeda, Fanny “Almira”, Mary Alma, Tama Rebecca an John Logan Morgan.

Ryan Morgan's wife, Amanda Malvira Morgan passed away on October 18th, 1891 and Ryan remarried to Alzada M. Smith Peacock, widow of Edmund Peacock, in 1902.

MORGAN, RYAN, farmer, Sec. 15; P.O. Kellogg; born in Lee Co., Ill., in 1835;
moved to Poweshiek Co., Iowa, in 1855; located in the county in 1868. Married
Amanda Robertson in 1860; she was born in Niagara Co., N.Y. in 1839; their
children are William B., Margie I., Ryan G., Edith A., Amanda J., Harriet A.,
Fannie A., Mary A. and T.R. Mr. Morgan is Greenback in politics. He enlisted in
the 15th I.V.I., in 1864, Co. F; accompanied Sherman on his celebrated march to
the sea; was present at the grand review at Washington in May 24, 1865 (his own
birthday) and was mustered out in 1865 at Louisville, Ky. He owns 160 acres of
land, valued at $40 per acre Ryan also remarried Alzada M. Smith Peacock, widow of Edmund Peacock, in 1902 Ryan Morgan also served in the Civil War with the Co. F, 15th Iowa Regiment 1864-1865

The 1895 Census shows Ryan Gilbert Morgan, son of Ryan Morgan, as residing in Kellogg, Iowa.   Kellogg, Iowa is the birthplace of his son Robert Lee Morgan (DOB January 11 th 1900), father of Robert James Morgan. Robert Lee Morgan’s mother was Minnie Robinson. Minnie M. Robinson was born in 1868 and died in 1961, her father was born in Pennsylvania and her mother was born in Iowa. Robert Lee Morgan, at some point, moved to Minnesota with spouse Elizabeth Keavney. As of the 1930 U.S. Census both Minnie and Ryan Gilbert Morgan were still in Iowa. In 1941 their residence was listed as 106 10th Street, House #1106, in Des Moines.

MORGAN FAMILY TREE BREAKDOWN

Here is a breakdown of the family tree I was able to find on Ancestry.com and at the MN History Center. This is a list that follows the Morgan name. Ancestors are listed from most recent at the top, and as your scroll down sequentially go to oldest. 
                  As of 12/19/21 I was able to discover two further back generations, and was able to discover our first American relative, Edward Morgan, thanks to the WikiTree site. I also found out that Andrew's daughter is the mother of THE Daniel Boone, American frontiersman. Edward's cabin in Pennsylvania still stands today, there is a link in his description below.

Greetings All Morgans, namely those from the Tintah, Minnesota and surrounding area!
